Rising damp can develop within walls due to the lack of an effective damp proof course, the omission of damp proofing during earlier construction or renovation, and poor ventilation.

Rising damp may be identified during a Building Survey or through tests carried out at the base of the damp walls. In more severe cases, where damp has been left untreated for extended periods, visible damp patches may appear along with hygroscopic salts on the surface of the walls.

Effective damp proofing treatment involves several key steps:

• Plaster Removal: Removing the wall plaster to approximately one meter or higher, depending on the presence of salts within the masonry and other factors.
• New Damp Proof Course Installation: Installing a new damp proof course within the damp walls to provide long-term protection for the property.
• Regular Maintenance: We recommend checking the damp proof course every 10 years to ensure ongoing effectiveness and protection.
